Although the two have no where near the presence in CMBS that Kmart does, their weakening financial positions could be felt in the market. Realpoint and Trepp recently alerted their clients to which deals have an exposure to the retailers.
Even though $4.6 billion of CMBS has some exposure to the ailing retailer, it's possible bankruptcy filing is not expected to have a major impact, thanks to CMBS' built-in diversification. Kmart also would not likely shut many stores.
